0:00 How you doing? I'm Mufasa and today I'm going to teach you how to do a Sherlock bubbler stand up.
0:09 And we're going to start with the stem. First thing we're going to do is we're going to take a stick of 19
0:15 for our stem. It doesn't matter how big of a stick you use, you can make these as big and as small as
0:21 you like. This is how I'm using it. We're going to snap some glass to get prepared. I'm going to
0:29 take my glass scorer, I'm going to put it in the crook of my knuckle here, and I'm going to take the
0:38 glass in between my forefinger and my thumb and put the score up against the glass, squeeze very
0:44 tightly, and twist the glass with my other hand. It gives us a nice little score. After I do that,
0:51 I'm going to lick it, put my thumbs on either side of the crack of the score I just did,
0:57 and I'm going to lift and pull at the same time, right there at the score.
1:07 So we're doing this right here, keeping all our pressure directly where we scored our piece.
1:14 So that's going to be for our stem. Since I'm scoring glass, I'm going to go ahead and do my
1:18 chalice too. Fume it. I have silver here, it takes low pressure, sharp flame with silver,
1:32 and I'm going to bring the silver in a little slow, get it warm so it doesn't just fall off
1:37 the piece or crack off the glass back into the piece. Basically, I'm just gathering all
1:46 that excess scrap glass back into the mouth. The more I let it gather, the tighter the hole
1:56 will become. We'll close up more. Now we weld it up to the piece width, and we're going to blow
2:04 our last bubble, which is going to be our connecting bubble. So you just heat the end of this up,
2:18 and then you start pulling. Then I'm going to fire polish all that and heat it up enough
2:25 to where I can sink my bowl. If the bowl hole looks like it's getting too small, blow it out.
2:41 Give it a little blow, make it go out a little extra, and then take it and set it.
